Since 1990, Strategic Funding Group has acted as a strategic partner to hundreds of non-profits and assistance organizations, helping them to secure funding, implement successful programs, and turn their vision into a reality. We are the best option for organizations that are looking to grow quickly, smarter and more efficient in the short-term, and enjoy sustainable success going forward. 

In its 30-year history, SFG has written hundreds of winning grant/contract applications.

In 2020, SFG had its most successful year to date, winning over $72.5 million for its clients (a 67 percent success rate). Through this experience, SFG possesses excellent knowledge of the regulations/requirements associated with federal, state, and local grant/contract sources and remains up to date with any changes.

In addition to writing, packaging, and submitting competitive applications, SFG works closely with its clients to research and vet new funding opportunities; strategically package funding sources together for maximum results; design programs, budgets, and protocols; facilitate partnerships that often result in more competitive and collaborative applications; and administer successful grants.

Leah Tennille has served as President of Strategic Funding Group since January 2012. Before taking this role, Leah served as Chief Operating Officer, and has over 15 years of experience in research, writing, and grant development. Mrs. Tennille holds an A.B. in English and Latin from College of Charleston. In addition to overseeing the company, she works on all Strategic Funding Reports and provides ongoing strategic consultation to clients.

Michael Kannensohn founded Strategic Funding Group in 1990, and under his leadership, SFG has won more than $700 million in grant funds for nonprofit organizations, local governments, colleges, and for-profit companies. Mr. Kannensohn holds Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Political Science, specializing in public policy and intergovernmental relations. He has over 35 years of grant development experience in both nonprofit and governmental sectors.
